I wanted to do some portraits of my Grandfather for my Mom for Mother’s Day.

He’s 93 but still very active – still bowls every week, although he has given up on golf the last couple of years. Here are some shots from his house. I was planning on using two lights, but I could only plug in one (since most of his house plugs only have 2 prongs and I only had one extension cord with me). I used one strobe with a silver umbrella to light all the shots. There was also some light coming through the large picture window, but I mostly overpowered it with the strobe.

I did a few different shots… standing, sitting, close, full-length. We ended up shooting for about 15-20 minutes before he had to get off to church 🙂

Tech Info: Nikon D800, 24-120mm f/4, 24mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, Hensel Strobe with Silver Umbrella.
